Hearing om framtida möjligheter för forskning med neutroner

Vetenskapsrådet bjuder in forskare och företrädare för svenska lärosäten till en hearing om forskning med neutroner. Syftet med hearingen är att informera om och peka på några av de möjligheter som etableringen av ESS (European Spallation  Source) kommer att skapa för det svenska forskarsamhället. Vi vill också diskutera vad Vetenskapsrådet och andra aktörer kan göra för att en bredare del av forskarsamhället ska kunna utnyttja ESS; vilka insatser i form av kunskapsuppbyggnad och stöd till forskning ger bäst effekt och hur samordnas dessa insatser mellan lärosäten och forskningsfinansiärer. ESS blir ett mångvetenskapligt forskningscenter som kommer att attrahera forskare inom vitt skilda områden som materialvetenskap, energi, klimat, life science, medicin etc.

Hearing on future opportunities for research using neutrons 

The Swedish Research Council invites researchers and representatives of Swedish universities to a hearing on research with neutrons. The main aim is to inform about, and point to some of the future possibilities that the establishment of ESS (European Spallation Source) will create for the Swedish research community. We also would like to discuss what the Swedish Research Council, and other actors, should do to encourage a wider part of the scientific community to take advantage of the ESS facility; what activities to enforce capacity building and what types of support for research are needed; and how would these efforts be coordinated between research institutions and funders. ESS will be a multidisciplinary research center that will attract scientists in diverse areas such as materials science, energy, climate, life science and medicine. 

The meeting is held in Stockholm at 10 am-15 pm, October 2, 2012.
