Committee for Educational Sciences
The Committee for Educational Sciences supports the best research as to quality according to national priorities and also the best researchers within the area which is relevant to teacher training and pedagogical activity. The Committee also participates in international collaboration organisations and also works on monitoring, evaluation and strategic work. Another important task of the Committee is to arrange conferences on matters within the realm of education science.
Organisation
The Committee consists of eleven members. The Research Council´s board appoints a chairman and seven of the members. Three of the members are nominated by FAS, Formas and VINNOVA. The researchers work within the field of education science. These include representatives of different academic orientations and they are nominated by the research community. The chairman of the Committee for Education Science is Sigbrit Franke, professor of education.
Secretary General
The Committee has a Secretary General with high academic competence. The Secretary General has academic responsibility for the Committee´s activity and is a member of the Research Council´s strategic management group. She leads the Committee´s work together with the chairman. The name of the Secretary General of the Committee for Education Science is Elisabet Nihlfors.The Committee´s strategy
The Committee for Education Science works to ensure that: - the Committee is made permanent and is given the same basic conditions as the Scientific Councils within the Research Council
- an especially long-term subvention, which is subject to competition, is set up for the expansion of research and research training within education science in association with teacher-training courses
- research links within higher education are strengthened
- the number of research-trained teachers increases both in the obligatory and the voluntary sectors, including higher education
- an improvement is achieved in the accessibility of research results for society at large.
