Expert Group on Misconduct in Research

The Research Council´s board decided in 2008 that the Expert Group for matters concerned with dishonesty in research would be discontinued as from the turn of the year 2008/2009.

The Expert Group will once more accept reports

The Government has commissioned the Research Council´s expert group to once again accept reports from universities and colleges and investigate suspected dishonesty in research.

An Expert Group for Misconduct in Research will be set up within the Central Ethical Testing Board, according to the research [Government] proposition “A Boost for Research and Innovation" (prop. 2008/09:50), but until this is ready, the Research Council´ Expert Panel  will thus be able to continue working on matters concerned with dishonesty in research.

The Research Council´s expert panel for investigating suspicions of dishonesty in research will, at the request of universities and colleges, explore whether dishonesty has occurred.

The Expert Panel only produces an academic assessment. The intention of the investigation is to establish whether there has been deviation from good academic practice or not. This is a broader concept than fraudulent research. The Research Council will not take decisions about, propose or recommend measures. This is done by the employer(s) concerned.
