Workshop UHERIXS 2011
– Petra III opportunities
Welcome to a brainstorming workshop, sponsored by the Röntgen-Ångström-Cluster, on ultra-high-energy resonant inelastic x-ray scattering.
The Swedish beamline at PETRA III will provide outstanding opportunities in the 50-150 keV energy range. This energy range includes the 1s resonances of the Z>63 elements, which have earlier been exploited in photon spectroscopy only in a limited fashion. Fascinating fundamental issues are associated with the deep core levels, and there are interesting potential applications in materials and chemical physics. Simultaneously, the energy range poses new experimental challenges.
