The Swedish Research Council, which distributed about SEK 5 billion in research support in 2012, is the largest state funder of basic research at Swedish higher education institutions and research institutes.
The Swedish Research Council finances research within medicine, humanities and social sciences, educational sciences, research infrastructure, natural and engineering sciences.
