Conference Grant

1. Type of grant 


The main purpose of the programme is to enable eminent foreign lecturers to be invited.

Conditions


The conference must be international and to be organised in Sweden, another Nordic country or one of the Baltic countries by Swedish arrangers, and it must cover a research field that is supported, or could be supported, by the Swedish Research Council.
  • Applications may be submitted continuously during the year.
  • The application must be written in Swedish or English.
  • Applications are not dealt with between 15 May and 15 August.
  • An application for a conference grant must be received not later than two months before the conference is to take place.
  • The conference programme must be of high quality, and the lecturer invited must be a researcher of international repute.
  • Support is provided mainly for conferences that Sweden is obliged, under international agreements or according to established practice, to organise.
  • Support for conferences is awarded only to cover costs (travel and lodging) for a limited number of invited foreign lecturers. Grants are not provided for other participants, for administration or for social-security contributions.
  • The maximum conference grant is SEK 100 000.

2. Who can apply? 


Applicants must have obtained their PhDs by the date of the application.

Administration


Grants are administered by a university (host university) or other institution that conducts research.

3. Form of application 


A full application comprises the filled-in online form and appendices (see under the heading 'Appendices'). Please note that Appendix S, signed, must be submitted to the Swedish Research Council in paper form.

The application must be in such a form that a meaningful review and assessment can be carried out prior to a decision.

Appendix S, complete with signatures, must be sent in to the Swedish Research Council in paper form. 
 

Appendix ÖB - Travel grants/Conference grants/Symposia


This Appendix (in a 12-point typeface, a maximum of three A4 pages) must comprise:
  • A description of the scientific content of the conference.
  • The expected number of participants (if possible, state the proportion of postgraduate students, the proportions of young and older researchers, etc.).
  • The names of the lecturers who are invited, and the costs entailed by inviting these lecturers.
  • Budget for the conference (preliminary).
  • Conference programme (preliminary).
  • Any grants applied for and/or received from another source.
  • Web address of the conference.
 

Appendix B - CV/scientific qualifications


A concise Curriculum Vitae for the applicant (in a 12-point typeface, not exceeding two A4 pages).

5. Evaluation and decision

 
The application is sent to an External reviewer who writes an assessment and gives a preliminary decision.
The decision is taken by the Secretary General of the Scientific Council for Natural and Engineering Sciences and is final.
An assessment from an expert reviewer is issued at the applicant's request.

7. How and when to apply
