Collaborating to construct and phase out databases

The Swedish Research Council aims to increase the accessibility and utilization of existing data. One aspect of this effort involves establishing the Swedish National Data Services (SND) at Göteborg University and the Swedish National Data Services for Climate and Environmental Research (SND-KM) at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).

SND is a national strategic resource for research that handles data of interest for several research areas, the humanities, medicine, social sciences, and educational sciences, and makes databases accessible to the research community.

SND-KM is a national strategic resource for research that generates and uses data on climate and the environment.

The Swedish Research Council wants to challenge scientists to participate in the initiative by consulting and collaborating with SND and SND-KM to construct new databases and maintain or phase out/archive existing databases in the research areas mentioned above. If you intend to apply for funding for projects (or equivalent) where data collection in the above-mentioned areas is an essential component, you should contact SND or SND-KM before submitting your application to the Swedish Research Council.
