Grants 2013

The Swedish Research Council is a government agency that provides funding for basic research of the highest scientific quality in all disciplinary domains. Here you can read about the various forms of grant that will be announced during 2013.

There may be further announcements during the year, as a result of special subject-specific efforts, or through government mandates.

Grants for international recruitment of leading researchers All areas The aim of the grant is to give Swedish higher education institutions a long-term opportunity to attract leading international researchers to Sweden. The vice-chancellor at a state-run university or higher education institution is the applicant Se call text Continous
International Postdoc All subject areas The purpose is to promote international mobility for researchers who have recently been awarded a doctorate from a Swedish university. The young researcher should be given the opportunity to conduct research at a foreign university or research institute. To apply for an International Postdoc, your degree must not be more than two years old. Grants for Swedish-Chinese research collaboration All subject areas In 2013, the Swedish Research Council, FAS and Formas will announce funding for research cooperation with China. The terms of the call are currently being designed and the details are not yet clear. The call will be carried out in two stages. For a researcher to be eligable for a grant, the administrative body must submit a Notification of interest. Johan Dixelius First stage: Notification of interest no later than January 23, 2013. Second stage: Application deadline Tuesday the 28th May, 2013.
Conference grant All subject areas The aim is to promote international cooperation and sharing of experiences amongst researchers. A Conference Grant represents a means of giving researchers working in Sweden the opportunity to arrange a conference with internationally recognised lecturers. The grant covers the costs of travel and lodging for a limited number of invited lecturers who work outside Sweden. Helene Sundewall Continous
The Swedish Research Links Program - International Collaborative Research Grant All subject areas The Swedish Research Links program offers grants for international collaborative research projects of high scientific quality and of mutual relevance for scientists in Sweden and scientists in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Africa, Latin America and Europe. The grant may be used for joint activities, such as research visits between the partners, workshops and seminars. Katrin Brandt The call will open on March 6. Application deadline on April 24.
Programme for Development Research (U-Forsk) All Funding for Swedish research of relevance to low and middle income countries (previously handled by Sida) Anna Vallstedt-Haeger The call will open on March 6. Application deadline on April 24.
Grants for scientific journals in the humanities and social sciences HS   Anette Eriksson The call will open in the middle of August. Closing date in the middle of september
Visiting professorship   Swedish universities and higher education institutions (HEI) are welcome to nominate candidates for the visiting professorships below.    
Carl Wilhelm Scheele visiting professorship MH The purpose of this grant is to strengthen Swedish research in pharmaceutical sciences, and to promote increased internationalization by inviting prominent foreign researchers as visiting professors. Kerstin Hesselgren and Olof Palme Visiting Professorships HS The purpose of these visiting professorships is to enrich and develop the work of Swedish University departments in a manner that benefits the department´s own activities, and can lead to continued international cooperation. Tage Erlander visiting professorship NE The purpose is to give an internationally recognized Swedish or foreign researchers the opportunity to spend one year at a university or higher education institution (HEI) or research institute in Sweden.
