In the evaluation handbook you will also find practical information on using the Web-based tool VR-Review in rating the grant applications as well as instructions on how to write the evaluations. Although the goal of the review process is to allocate the Scientific Council´s funds in the best way, it is also essential that we produce high-quality evaluations that describe the strengths and possible weaknesses of the grant applications.

The work of reviewing grant applications is the foundation of the Scientific Council´s activities. Serving as a member of one of the Scientific Council´s Evaluation Panels is an important assignment. My experience after nearly ten years in this “business" is that naturally it involves considerable work, but the work is interesting and rewarding since it offers an overview of a broader area than we normally encounter in our daily lives as research scientists. I hope you will enjoy the evaluation process and that you feel your contribution is beneficial to the natural and engineering sciences in Sweden.
