Postdoc decisions spring 2010

The Swedish Research Council has decided on postdoctoral positions and postdoctoral fellowships to be granted in connection with 2010 spring call (final application date 25 February 2010.)

A total of 443 applications were received, within medicine and health, the arts, social science and science and technology. Of these, 71 have been approved. The total sum in grants awarded by the Council has amounted to SEK 202 million.

The number of post-doctoral grants was higher than the number of positions for post-docs in Sweden. 34 percent of those who sought post-doc grants will receive funding as opposed to grants for posts as post-docs in Sweden, where 7 percent of applications have been granted.

USA by far the most popular destination


The most popular international destination remains the US. The next most popular is the United Kingdom, but there is a great difference compared with the US, which is by far the most popular destination. The most popular host institution in higher education for a post-doctoral position in Sweden is UppsalaUniversity followed by LundUniversity and Karolinska Institutet has a second and a third place.

The Research Council advertises and decides on postdoctoral grants and appointments in Sweden twice a year. Call for applications opens early July. Submission deadline is August 26, 2010.
