Medical research affords knowledge of how the human body works and how illnesses are prevented, arise and are treated. The Research Council supports everything from research at molecular and cellular level and research involving animal experimentation and patients to epidemiological studies of groups of people. The Research Council allocated around SEK 1 099 million by way of grants for research within medicine and health 2011.
