The Swedish Research Council has an expert group for ethics which scrutinises overarching ethical matters, for example how ethical questions should be handled in connection with the commercialisation of research. The expert group also attempts to stimulate ethical discussion.
The Council is also responsible for an expert group on questions concerning misconduct in research, which reviews matters on behalf of universities and colleges where fraudulent research — known as dishonesty in research — is suspected.
There is also an expert group for laboratory animal science within the Council's organisation.
The Swedish Research Council is also responsible for the web site, Codex, which contains a collection of rules and guidelines for research.
