Röntgen-Ångström Cluster (RÅC) is a German-Swedish research collaboration in structural biology and materials science. The purpose is to strengthen research in materials science and structural biology that uses neutron and synchrotron radiation (also free electron laser radiation), and to stimulate the use and/or accumulation of competence for major research infrastructures that already exist or are planned within the framework for the collaboration. The call is bi-annual and the projects are so called “Project grant with focus”.
This years focus:
The aim of the call is that projects exploit the particular advantages of the sources within the realm of RAC with the specific aim to strengthen Swedish-German research expertise in view of optimal use of the above listed research infrastructures. Project proposals that include cross-border mobility of early career researchers to one of the mentioned facilities will be looked favourably upon.
Proposals to further develop the experimental capabilities at the ESS are strongly encouraged and will be given a high priority in the evaluation process. Such proposals could aim at completing the suite of first 15 instruments, developing novel instrumentation, sample environment, methodology, analysis methods or software. The target is to support and take part in the early science program at ESS during the project period.
