Responsible for Allocation of Research Funding
The Committee for Engineering Sciences is responsible for the initiatives delegated by the board, primarily those related to technology in the research policy bill, such as the initiative for excellence clusters for groundbreaking technology.
During the committee’s mandate period, the Scientific Council for Natural and Engineering Sciences will continue to hold parts of the responsibility for funding research in engineering sciences. The committee and the scientific council will collaborate closely on shared matters.
Following up research in the area
The committee develops approaches for cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaborations and monitors developments in engineering sciences more broadly.
Composition of the Committee
The committee currently consists of nine members. Two additional two members, who will represent engineering research outside academia, will be appointed at a later stage. All members and the chair are appointed by the Swedish Research Council’s board. The mandate period is two years and three months.
The Committee meets approximately six times a year.
