Subject classification of publications in the ISI database based on references and citations

Thomson Reuters’ publication database contains a subject classification of journal issues. One of these subjects is “Multidisciplinary Sciences”, which includes journals such as Nature and Science. Several of the publications in these journals have a clear subject focus. This report describes a method for reclassifying such publications, to get more suitable subject labels on them.
