Mapping of research relevant to the etiology and treatment of the disease narcolepsy

The Swedish Research Council’s mapping

This report is a study of research relevant to the emergence and treatment of narcolepsy, as well as an analysis of knowledge gaps in the field. The report shows that a large portion of the research is being done in the US and Europe. Alongside this, relevant research is also being done in Japan and China. Narcolepsy research in Sweden is limited, even though some studies have been started in recent years. The underlying mechanisms of the disease are still unknown and the treatment options available today focus on relieving symptoms. A number of knowledge gaps have been identified with respect to the emergence and treatment of narcolepsy.
