Research project grant for international cooperation within migration and environmental change (Belmont Forum)

The purpose of the grant is to support international collaboration within Belmont Forum. The 2022 call relates to support for research into environmental changes and migration. Sweden, via the Swedish Research Council and Formas (Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development), is one of the countries taking part in the call.

Subject area: Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural and Engineering Sciences

Focus: Belmont Forum 

Applicant: Individual researcher who represents all Swedish participants in a consortium with partners from at least 3 participating countries. Only researchers at an administrating organisation approved by the Swedish Research Council may apply.

Grant period: 3 years

Grant amount: Minimum 1 200 000 SEK and maximum 4 500 000 SEK in total for Swedish participation in a consortium, irrespective of the number of Swedish partners taking part in the consortium.

Start of grant period: January 2023

Application period: For the consortium application to Belmont Forum: 12 August 2022 (20.00/8 p. m. UTC). For the Swedish project leader’s application in Prisma: 18 August 2022 (14.00/2 p.m.)

Publication of grant award: No later than the end of December 2022

Please note:

  • If you are participating as a Swedish project leader and representative of partners in an international consortium, you must submit a parallel application to the Swedish Research Council. This is a national eligibility requirement that must be fulfilled before we can approve your participation in the consortium application.
  • As from 2022, new criteria apply for approval of administrating organisations for grants awarded by the Swedish Research Council. You therefore need to make sure that your organisation fulfils the requirements and has been approved by us as an administrating organisation for calls issued after 1 January 2022. Please note also that the instructions for your description of ethical considerations in the application have changed as from this year.
  • You will need to have a data management plan Opens in new window.for data generated within the research we award funds for. You must not send the plan to us, but according to our general grant terms and conditions, your administrating organisation must confirm that a data management plan will be in place when you start your project or equivalent, and also that the plan will be maintained.
