Focus
The call for project grants for research into societal security and preparedness is aimed at funding research where the results can contribute to improving preparedness against threats and crises. The wide focus of the call means that urgent issues relating to societal preparedness can be looked at from several different perspectives. The research may cover issues such as how the public undertaking to address threats and crises is designed, and what it should cover, historical perspectives on societal security and preparedness, or comparative perspectives that investigate differences and similarities between countries in terms of the design and effects of societal preparedness. The research may cover both local and national measures, as well as international undertakings and agreements.
The initiative aims to strengthen Swedish research focused on societal preparedness and security. Research perspectives based on humanities and/or social sciences may be used, and we regard cross-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary approaches as urgent and potentially valuable. International comparisons and research collaborations are important for learning from experiences in other places, and for generating and gaining access to relevant knowledge.
