Olof Palme visiting professorship

The Swedish Research Council has decided that Priyankar Upadhyaya, who holds the UNESCO Chair for Peace and Intercultural Understanding, at Banaras Hindu University, India, will be the holder of the 2027 Olof Palme visiting professorship.

The 2027 Olof Palme visiting professorship has been awarded Priyankar Upadhyaya, who holds the UNESCO Chair for Peace and Intercultural Understanding, at Banaras Hindu University, India. During his time in Sweden, he will be active mainly at the University of Gothenburg.

The Olof Palme professorship should be awarded to an internationally prominent researcher focused on topics important to the pursuit of peace in a broad context within the areas of social sciences, humanities, theology and science of law.

We decide on the professorship with two years of advancement. The 2025 decision thus refers to professorship in 2027.
