Office for ALF

The Office for ALF is a hub for issues relating to the ALF agreement. The office is located at the Swedish Research Council’s head office in Stockholm.

The Office for ALF provides administrative support to the national ALF steering committe and coordinates the Swedish Research Council’s evaluations of clinical research quality in the ALF regions.

The office also coordinates contacts between the Swedish Research Council, the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Government Offices and the Swedish Research Council’s scientific councils, councils and committees on issues relating to ALF.

What is ALF?

ALF is the abbreviation in Swedish of an agreement between central government and seven regions on physician education and clinical research. The agreement codifies the the parties’ agreement to work together to promote the development of health and medical care, and to collaborate on clinical research and the training of physicians.

  1. Agreements completed with four publishers of open access journals

    Last autumn, the Swedish Research Council, Formas, Forte, and Vinnova made a focus decision to fund publishing using publishers that only produce journals with full open access. Agreements have now been entered into with four publishers.

  2. New statistics for applications and decisions

    We have now published overall statistics for applications and grant decisions for 2023. To make the statistics more useful, we have divided up the subjects differently compared to previous years.

  3. Just over 75 per cent of clinical studies registered after one year

    As from 2022, all clinical studies funded by the Swedish Research Council shall be registered in a public database. A recent follow-up shows that the majority of the clinical studies awarded funding in 2022 have been registered.
