The Committee for Clinical Studies

The Swedish Research Council’s Committee for Clinical Studies decides on the allocation of the Swedish Research Council’s funds for the national coordination of clinical studies. The Committee has 13 members active within academia, county councils and regions, as well as relevant industry organisations.

Decides on strategic focus and allocation of funds

The Swedish Research Council has been assigned by the Government to support and develop the prerequisites for clinical studies in Sweden through national coordination. The Committee for Clinical Studies decides how the Swedish Research Council’s funds earmarked for the assignment are allocated. The Committee also decides on the strategic focus of the work and promotes work with clinical studies within healthcare, academia and industry.

Composition of the Committee

The Committee for Clinical Studies consists of 13 members appointed by the Government, four based on nominations by the Swedish Research Council, four based on nominations by the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions and four based on nominations by the industry organisations for the pharmaceutical industry, the medical technology industry, the biotechnology industry and private healthcare providers. The term of office is two years. Members can be re-elected for a further period.

The committee meets four times a year.
