Call for applications – RACIRI Summer School
The summer school takes place 25 August – 1 September 2018 at Rügen Island in Germany and invites PhD students, Master (diploma) students in their final research year, and young postdoctoral researchers at Swedish research institutions or universities. The theme of the year is "From Basic Science and Applications to Technologies inspired by Nature”. The deadline for applications is 11 june (note! extended)
The RACIRI Summer School 2017 offers up to 20 scholarships (covering food and lodging in Sweden) for students and young scientists who are working at Swedish research institutions or universities and are resident in Sweden.
One of the main goals of the RACIRI Summer Schools is to reinforce the scientific knowledge base of the next generation of researchers in advanced materials design and to contribute to the necessary interdisciplinary literacy in relevant scientific fields and disciplines, especially geared towards the use of the new large research infrastructures that are now coming online or being constructed.
The programme structure, lectures and topics are designed to improve basic understanding rather than focusing on plain experimental methods and techniques. The summer school is organised for the sixth consecutive year and has to date had about 100 participants every year from Sweden, Germany and Russia.

Part of the Röntgen-Ångström Cluster
The RACIRI Summer School is part of the Swedish–German scientific collaboration in material science and structural biology, the “Röntgen-Ångström Cluster” (RÅC). The partnership aims to strengthen research using neutrons and x-rays and to stimulate use of the large research infrastructures that already exist in the region or are being constructed. The Swedish Research Council is the public authority managing the cooperation.
