ERC competition to promote research communication

All ERC award holders undertake to communicate their project, but as the results can be unpredictable and arrive at any time during the grant period, the researchers do not have to submit a communication plan when they apply for their research support. With the new prize, the ERC wishes to recognise the researchers who make the effort to communicate outside their own research domain, and do so in an effective and original way.

The prize has three categories: contacts with the general public, press and media relations, and online and social media.

The competition opened on 24 September 2019 and closes on 10 January 2020. The winners will be selected by a jury consisting of researchers, science communicators, science journalists, and science policy decisionmakers. The winners will be announced at the prize-giving, which will take place at ESOF in Trieste, Italy in July 2020.
