New criteria for approval as an administrating organisation

The Swedish Research Council has decided on new criteria for approval as an administrating organisation for grants we issue calls for as from next year. This means that a number of previously approved organisations will need to apply and be assessed against the new criteria.

The only organisations that do not need to apply are Swedish higher education institutions whose principal is the Swedish government, private higher education providers covered by Swedish legislation on the authority to award certain qualifications, and Swedish regions. Other organisations may be approved following application, provided they, as part of their mandates, conduct such research or research-supporting activities as the Swedish Research Council is mandated to fund, and also fulfil certain criteria.

“During 2021, we have carried out a review of the criteria that apply for an organisation to be approved as an administrating organisation for our grants. The review is important in order to guarantee that those that are approved as administrating organisations can offer the right preconditions for conducting the research and research-supporting activities we support,” says Sven Stafström, Director General of the Swedish Research Council.

Apply to calls issued as from 1 January 2022

The new criteria apply for grants that the Swedish Research Council issues calls for as from 1 January 2022.

The organisations involved have received information, together with an application form, via email. To enable us to publish the outcome before the first calls open in 2022, we need to receive the applications in good time, no later than 15 November.

If you are the representative responsible for an organisation and have any questions, please contact the Swedish Research Council via medelsforvaltare@vr.se. If you are planning to apply for our research grants in 2022 and have any questions, please contact your organisation.
