Valter Nordh appointed acting CEO of NORDUnet
NORDUnet, the collaboration organisation for the Nordic countries’ research and educational networks, has a new acting CEO as from 1 November 2021. Valter Nordh, who currently holds positions at both Sunet and the Swedish Research Council, will lead the organisation until a new permanent CEO has been appointed.
Valter Nordh replaces René Buch, who has held the position for 16 years and has now resigned in order to find new challenges. Valter’s task will be to lead the organisation during the period it takes to find a new permanent CEO.

“This is a big and challenging position of trust. It is exciting to have the opportunity to lead NORDUnet over the coming period of time. I hope that my background and extensive international contact network will contribute to the organisation. Collaboration and cooperation between the Nordic countries are important, and result in big benefits,” says Valter Nordh.
Valter Nordh has held a number of positions at Sunet, and has broad experience of collaboration issues and international cooperation, such as his six years as board member of GÉANT, the European counterpart to NORDUnet. At Sunet, he has been responsible for various services, collaborations and communities, and for relations and dialogue with higher education institutions. Valter was also responsible for the Zoom service at the start of the pandemic.
Valter represents the Swedish Research Council and Sunet in EuroHPC’s reference group and EOSC, a role that he will continue with during the time he is leading NORDUnet.
“I am happy that we within NORDUnet have found a good interim solution with Valter as acting CEO. We look forward to working with him in his new role,” says Maria Häll, head of Sunet at the Swedish Research Council, and chair of NORDUnet’s Board.
About NORDUnet
