Apply to RÅC 2023 summer school
The summer school will take place on 20–27 August 2023 in Lüneburg, Germany, and is aimed at postdocs, doctoral students and senior masters students at Swedish universities or research institutes. This year’s theme is “Cutting-edge Neutron and X-ray Research for a Sustainable Future”. The deadline for applications is 17 May 2023.
The call for RAC2023 International Summer School 2023 covers up to 25 places for junior researchers active in Sweden. Successful applicants receive a scholarship that covers the cost of food and lodging. The summer school has participants from Sweden and Germany and the school's venue rotates annually among the partner countries.
One of the primary aims of the summer school, which will be held in Lüneburg, Germany this year, is to strengthen the scientific knowledge base in the next generation of researchers, not least when it comes to using advanced research infrastructures.
Invited for application are:
- qualified senior master students in the final research phase of their study programs (master/diploma)
- doctoral students
- young postdoctoral researchers
Applications have to include:
- a CV
- a one-page motivation letter explaining why you would like to participate and how this might benefit your ongoing or planned research
- a brief recent reference letter (max 1 A4)

Deadline for application is 15 June 2023. (Note that the date has been moved forward, previously it was 17 May.)
All applications will be evaluated by members of the RÅC Swedish Summer School Committee and the Secretary General for Natural Science and Engineering Committee. The nomination of applicants will be based on their academic accomplishments, experience in research and education, as well as taking gender balance into account.
Part of the Röntgen-Ångström Cluster
RÅC International Summer School is part of the Swedish-German scientific cooperation in structural biology and materials sciences, Röntgen-Ångström Cluster (RÅC). The purpose of the cooperation is to strengthen research that uses neutron and synchrotron light, and to stimulate the use and/or accumulation of competence for major research infrastructures that already exist or are planned within the field. The Swedish Research Council is the administrating agency for RÅC.
RÅC International Summer Shool is organised by Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) and the Swedish Research Council. In Germany, the Summer School 2023 is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
