The Swedish Research Council participates in collaboration on the publishing platform Open Research Europe (ORE)

Open Research Europe (ORE) is today a free-of-charge publication platform offering peer review of scientific publications for researchers with funding from the European Commission. In december, ten research funding bodies in eight countries signed a statement of intent to jointly fund the platform in order to open it up to more researchers.

The statement of intent means that ORE will be possible to use by researchers in the eight participating countries, without any requirement for participation in an EU programme. This will benefit the whole research community, and contribute to the development of more open science.

The organisations have agreed to fund the platform for 5 years as an initial step, starting in 2026. The European Commission will continue as the main funding provider.

From Sweden, the Swedish Research Council, Formas, and Forte have signed the statement of intent. The other organisations are:

• Research Council of Norway, RCN
• Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT
• Slovenian Research Agency, ARIS
