The Swedish Research Barometer 2025 shows the state of Swedish research
How does Sweden compare as a research nation in international comparison, and in which research fields does Swedish research have the greatest impact? How is research in Sweden funded, and what is the state of gender equality at universities? The Swedish Research Barometer 2025 provides the answers.
In the Swedish Research Barometer 2025, we gather together statistics from various sources and present unique information on scientific publications and citation impact.
The three chapters of the report offer a comprehensive picture of the state of Swedish research from different perspectives:
- Funding: How much money is spent on research and development (R&D)?
- Personnel: What is the composition of the research personnel?
- Scientific publication: How big an impact does the research have?
This year’s report presents more detailed insights into research funding and includes more long-term comparisons than previous editions.
“To provide a broader understanding of R&D in an international context, we’ve included more countries in this year’s report. The three chapters are also more closely integrated than before, giving a more cohesive view of the Swedish R&D system,” says Kristina Tegler Jerselius, analyst at the Swedish Research Council.
An English version of the report will be published around the turn of the year.
