17 projects receive grants for research on responsible use of AI

It has now been decided who will get grants under Nordforsk’s initiative on responsible use of artificial intelligence. Twenty-nine researchers from eight Swedish universities and research institutes are involved in the seventeen projects that will receive funding.

The call for proposals supports research on common Nordic and Nordic-Baltic societal challenges related to the use and implementation of AI. The aim is to contribute to research capacity in the field through Nordic and Nordic-Baltic collaboration.

Seventeen projects will share approximately NOK 300 million. Each project includes researchers from at least four Nordic or Baltic countries. A total of 47 research organisations from nine countries are involved. This represents 163 researchers, 29 of whom are from Sweden.

Over 200 applications were received, which is the largest number to date for a Nordforsk call for proposals.

The call for proposals is backed by the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Swedish Research Council is one of the funders.
