We are participating in a call for proposals on disruptive technologies via NordForsk

NordForsk is participating in a major international collaboration to support interdisciplinary and transformative research. In January, a call for proposals will be opened with the aim of using disruptive technology to meet global societal challenges. The Swedish Research Council is co-funding.

The initiative involves using disruptive technology – i.e. whose application replaces or radically alters systems, processes or behaviours in society – to find new solutions to global challenges. The aim is to accelerate progress towards achieving the UN's global goals for sustainable development.

The call opens in January 2026 and will be implemented in two stages. The first stage closes on 3 March. The intention is to fund 12 research projects with Nordic participation.

The international collaboration is administered by the Canadian funding body New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF). The collaboration includes the International Development Research Centre in Canada, the Sao Paulo Research Foundation in Brazil, the Spanish State Research Agency, the Swiss National Science Foundation, the the Dutch Research Council, the National Science and Technology Council in Taiwan, UK Research and Innovation and NordForsk.

NordForsk coordinates the efforts of the Nordic countries. The Research Council of Norway, the Research Council of Finland, the Swedish Research Council, the Independent Research Fund Denmark, the Innovation Fund Denmark and Rannís – Iceland are co-funding the call.
