Nordforsk announces network grants in the humanities and social sciences

Nordforsk has announced a call for applications for grants to Nordic exploratory networks in the humanities and social sciences. The Swedish Research Council is one of the funding bodies. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2026.

The purpose of the call is to encourage young researchers in the Nordic region to build new or stronger cross-border research links. This is to strengthen the quality, innovation, international competitiveness and social impact of Nordic research.

The background to this is that the Nordic countries share a cultural, historical and linguistic heritage, and that social science and humanities research is necessary to understand how humans and society interact in an increasingly complex world.

The call aims to provide an opportunity for early-career researchers (2–7 years after completion of their PhD) to build and lead Nordic networks, support novelty and creativity in research network activities, and promote Nordic added value in research. The intention is to fund around 22 networks for up to three years.

The call is issued by the Joint Committee for Nordic Research Councils in the Humanities and Social Sciences (NOS-HS), which is a collaboration between the research councils in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

The deadline for applications is 15 April 2026.

Read more about the call and apply on the Nordforsk website. External link.
