New call for groundbreaking research has opened
We have now launched the call Exploratory grant in groundbreaking research. This is a new grant form designed to provide an opportunity to test a potentially groundbreaking research idea.
The initiative is aimed at researchers in all subject areas. Researchers awarded an exploratory grant will receive one million kronor per year over a two-year grant period. At a later stage, they will be able to apply in competition for a larger continuation grant.
”The idea behind the grant is to give a relatively large number of researchers – including those at the beginning of their careers – the opportunity to test a new, unconventional and risky hypothesis over a two-year period", says Karolina Wallenborg Bjelic, Senior research officer at the Swedish Research Council’s Department of Research Funding.
Applications are processed on a rolling basis. This means that when you, as an applicant, register your application, it will automatically become fully registered.
In spring 2027, we will open a new call for Exploratory grant in groundbreaking research.
