These may apply for grants for research infrastructure 2027
The areas and existing research infrastructures that will be included in the call for grants for research infrastructure of national interest, which will be open from 2 December 2026 to 16 February 2027, have now been decided.
The areas and research infrastructures included in the 2027 call for grants for research infrastructure of national interest are listed below. They comprise a number of areas and research infrastructures that received an A1 grade in the 2025–2026 needs inventory, as well as three research infrastructures that were awarded a short funding period in the 2025 call.
The call text will include a description of each area and research infrastructure, specifying any additional instructions and limitations regarding what an application can include. An online information meeting will take place on 2 November 2026, from 10.00 to 12.00.
The Swedish Research Council is further developing the processes for prioritising and funding research infrastructure. As part of this development, the call will initiate the gradual alignment of awarded grants within profile areas that have common funding periods. This means that the length of the funding period available for application will vary and is specified for each area and research infrastructure. All grants awarded under the call will have a funding start date in 2029.
The intention is that research infrastructures that, as a result of the transition to a profile-area-based funding and prioritisation process, are awarded a two-year grant in the 2027 call may be considered for inclusion in a potential 2029 call for grants for research infrastructure of national interest.
