Research on antibiotics and antibiotic resistance

Research is an important component of society’s efforts to prevent and manage antibiotic resistance. Next year, the Swedish Research Council will for the first time issue a call for project grants in this area, open to applicants from different scientific fields.

In early 2021, a call will open within the Joint Programme Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) collaboration, focusing on preventing and reducing the development and transmission of antimicrobial resistance. The Swedish Research Council and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) are participating as Swedish funding bodies.

World Antimicrobial Awareness Week runs from 18 to 24 November this year. The purpose of the week is to highlight the global challenge of antibiotic resistance and antimicrobial resistance.
