Research project grant: Bilateral agreement South Korea-Sweden for access to national research infrastructures

This call gives researchers in Sweden access to national research infrastructures in South Korea. The purpose of the research project grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate the research concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task with the help of a Korean research infrastructure within a limited period of time.

The Swedish Research Council and the National Research Foundation of Korea have a bilateral agreement facilitating academic collaboration between the two countries. The parties have agreed that for 2019 and 2020 the collaboration will focus on utilisation of national research infrastructures whereby researchers based in Sweden will be granted access to facilities in South Korea and vice versa. Each party has made available a selected number of facilities to the collaboration. In addition, applicants are welcome to find other facilities. Researchers based in Sweden that have been granted access to a research infrastructure in South Korea are welcome to apply to the Swedish Research Council for a limited grant (200 000-400 000 SEK) to cover travel costs, sample preparation and limited salaries (maximum 50 % of the total grant), as well as other costs related to the use of the facility and analyses of the results.

Grants will be awarded based on the scientific quality of the projects but special consideration will be given to projects utilising the unique opportunities provided by the collaboration.
