The purpose of the grant is to provide support for clinical therapy studies that are justified by the needs of Swedish health care and are expected to lead to patient and societal benefit in Sweden within a relatively short period of time. The purpose of the project grant is to give researchers the freedom to formulate by themselves the research concept, method and implementation, and to solve a specific research task within a limited period. The focus of this grant aims to increase researcher mobility and support collaboration between higher education institutions and the surrounding society, both the business sector and public and non-profit sectors, to increase the quality and impact of research. The grant must only be used to fund a postdoc who will be implementing the research project at the higher education institution and a collaborating part.

Proof of concept within the infection area

The purpose of the grant is to bridge the gap between basic research and utilisation or commercialisation of research results within the infection field. The proof of concept grant offers persons who are receiving or have received a grant from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), The Swedish Research Council for health, working life and welfare (Forte) or the Swedish Research Council for sustainable development (Formas) the opportunity to further develop their research results. This shall be done by verifying the useability and suitability of a new method, product or process developed from an earlier research project, and to carry out activities preparatory to innovation or commercialisation.
