The Swedish Research Council has decided that professor Sujata Patel at Indian Institute of Advanced Study, will be the holder of the 2021 Kerstin Hesselgren visiting professorship.

The 2021 Kerstin Hesselgren visiting professorship has been awarded Sujata Patel, professor in political sociology at Shimla, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, India. During her time in Sweden, professor Sujata Patel will be active mainly at Umeå University.
The Kerstin Hesselgren visiting professorship should be awarded to a foreign prominent internationally recognized female researcher in the areas of social sciences, humanities, theology or science of law.
We decide on the professorship with two years of advancement. The 2019 decision thus refers to professorship in 2021.
