Grant for recruiting international visiting researchers to Sweden

The Swedish Research Council has decided which higher education institutions will receive funding under the call Grant for recruiting international visiting researchers to Sweden. In this first round of decisions, a total of three higher education institutions will receive funding to recruit prominent researchers whose research activities have been outside Europe. The call is open for ongoing applications up until and including 1 December 2025.

The decision was based on 9 submitted applications. At least three further decision rounds will take place during autumn 2025. The next decision is planned for the middle of September.

The purpose of the grant is to give higher education institutions and other research organisations the opportunity to develop and strengthen a research field by recruiting, in the near future, a prominent researcher who is currently employed and active in research outside Europe. The grant of 2 million SEK shall be used for expenses arising from the recruitment, and to fund salary for employment in Sweden during a limited period.
