Excellence at Scale: From Breakthrough Science to Competitive Industries

How do we turn world-class research into globally competitive industries? This panel explores how excellence clusters can move beyond design to real system delivery—scaling innovation from lab to market. Drawing on Sweden’s new national excellence cluster programme, speakers from Vinnova, the Swedish Research Council, SPRIND, Chalmers University of Technology, and Blekinge Institute of Technology share insights on building ecosystems, leadership, and industry collaboration that translate frontier science into companies and economic impact. Expect practical lessons on scaling innovation, fostering entrepreneurial universities, and strengthening cross-sector innovation capacity.
