Dates set for calls in 2020
We have now decided when our calls will open and close in 2020. One change from previous years is that we will not be issuing calls for conference grants.
No calls for conference grants during 2020
Because of a reduction in the Government appropriation, the Swedish Research Council will not be issuing any calls for conference grants during 2020 and the new few years.
“We don’t want the cuts to affect our undirected project grants. These are the calls – where the researchers themselves formulate the research questions and develop methods for answering them – that we want to protect in the first instance. But at the same time, we must adapt to the budget we have available,” says Sven Stafström, Director General.
The conference grants have been a way of supporting international research collaboration.
“They have given researchers at Swedish higher education institutions the opportunity to arrange conferences with internationally recognised speakers. It is of course incredibly important that such conferences take place! I hope that the higher education institutions will continue to support this type of conferences even more now, if they are able,” says Sven Stafström.
The distinguished professor programme will also be affected by the reduced appropriation, and will be scaled down slightly.
