The ORE publishing platform is now open to Swedish researchers

Researchers in Sweden and other European countries can now publish their research findings in Open Research Europe, ORE, completely free of publication fees. The Swedish Research Council, Forte, and Formas are co-funding this initiative.

On November 2, Open Research Europe will launch its new platform for scientific publishing. This means that researchers working at Swedish universities and research organisations, as well as at companies, can publish their research results on ORE.
Publication is free of charge, regardless of the source of funding.

“By being one of the funders behind ORE, we’re making it possible for Swedish researchers to publish their research results openly and directly. In this way, we are helping to create more opportunities for open publication and increased accessibility,” says Katarina Bjelke, Director General of the Swedish Research Council.

Free to publish and free to read

ORE welcomes research results from all scientific disciplines. The platform is based on a model where research is published quickly and then undergoes an open peer review by experts. This ensures rapid dissemination and high quality. All published research results are freely available at no cost.

ORE was launched by the European Commission in 2021 and is now operated by CERN. Funding comes from the European Commission and participating research organisations in eleven European countries.

How the ORE publishing platform works

ORE publishes a wide range of research outputs, from research articles and methodological articles to software tools, data articles, review articles, and other scientific contributions. The articles are peer-reviewed by a dedicated council of researchers from various disciplines.

The platform is open to all fields of research and welcomes research results regardless of outcome, positive, negative, or null results. Studies that replicate previous research are also welcome. The focus is on scientific quality, transparency, and contributions to the advancement of knowledge.

Get to know the platform

On the ORE website, you’ll find information to help you get started with publishing and reviewing on the platform. Here you’ll also find guidance on eligibility and the requirements for the publication process.

ORE launch webinar

On December 1, Open Research Europe is hosting a webinar on the new version of the publishing platform. Participants will receive practical guidance and assistance to get started with publishing.
