Grant for recruiting international visiting researchers to Sweden 2026
The Swedish Research Council has decided which higher education institutions will receive funding under the call Grant for recruiting international visiting researchers to Sweden 2026. In this second round of decisions, two higher education institution will receive funding to recruit a prominent researcher each, whose research activities have been outside Europe.

About the grant for recruiting international visiting researchers to Sweden
The purpose of the grant is to give higher education institutions and other research organisations the opportunity to develop and strengthen a research field by recruiting, in the near future, a prominent researcher who is currently employed and active in research outside Europe. The grant of 2 million SEK shall be used for expenses arising from the recruitment, and to fund salary for employment in Sweden during a limited period.
What happens after the grant decision?
A few days after the grant decision has been published, the decision and final statement for the application can be found on the organisation’s account in Prisma.

If the application has been approved, the document "Approval of terms and conditions" will be published on the Prisma account of the responsible applicant or the main responsible for the organisation account. The document describes the terms and conditions of the grant and must be signed as soon as possible – but no later than 30 days.

Note! The document “Approval of terms and conditions” (Godkännande av villkor) is published in Prisma within five days after the grant decision has been published.
The first payment is made in connection with the start of the grant period. The grant is then paid out monthly provided that the "Approval of terms and conditions" has been signed.
Yes, as long as it does not affect the ability to carry out the activities within the grant period, the grant’s availability period, and the terms and conditions of the grant. The grant’s availability period is the time during which the funding may be used.
