Project title: Communication alliance in the field of Migration and Integration: New forms of knowledge circulation for public education and societal dialogue

What is the project about?

Issues of migration and integration today occupy a place in the public debate that is unparalleled. Researchers generally agree that the public debate is largely conducted without, or with very limited, research connection. Thus, political decisions are designed with a weak knowledge base.

The REMESO research environment is unique in the Nordic region in its broad social science and humanities perspective on migration and integration. In dialogue with other knowledge actors, REMESO can generate an important knowledge circulation for society as well as academia.

Through guest visits by artists, writers, and journalists at REMESO, the project aims to:

  • generate new contact surfaces and networks where different groups of intellectuals can discuss knowledge in the field of migration and integration
  • exchange experiences regarding knowledge creation and thereby understand the conditions for different forms of knowledge circulation
  • increase the wider societal knowledge about t migration and integration.

The project target groups are knowledge actors involved in the project (publicly active knowledge actors and researchers); and in the second, more important step, the respective target groups of the knowledge actors, ie. students, readers, art, and media audiences. This is intended to increase the level of knowledge in the public debate. An ambitious evaluation is included in the project with the aim of integrating knowledge circulation in the normal activities of the research environment.
